A new fishing pier has taken residence in Buena Vista Park, and the city is celebrating with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The public is encouraged to join the New Smyrna Beach City Commission Friday, November 5, at 11:30 a.m. to celebrate the new fishing pier.

According to a release, the pier has been open to the public since passing its inspection on October 27 and added new amenities funded by a grant from the Florida Inland Navigation District. The new amenities feature efficient LED lighting, bench seating, two fish cleaning stations, nine lowered ADA-complaint handrails, and a splinter-free recycled composite deck material.
