Volusia Pediatrics is following the Coronavirus closely.  We will be posting information on how to take the appropriate measures to keep your children and families healthy and to minimize the spread of this virus.
On Sunday, March 1, 2020, Governor Ron DeSantis issued Executive Order 20-51 directing the State Health Officer and Surgeon General, Scott Rivkees, MD, to declare a public health emergency in the State of Florida due to coronavirus.

How does this affect you?
1. If your child becomes sick with fever and respiratory symptoms, please call the office for advise.
2. If you have traveled recently to any geographic location where you may have been exposed to the virus (China, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Iran) or out of state where cases of the coronavirus have been documented  and your child has developed MILD fever and respiratory symptoms, we advise you to stay at home and self-quarantine for 2 weeks. Contact the local health department for further advice.
3. If your child's symptoms are getting worse, please contact our office.
4. If your child has SEVERE shortness of breath, please go to the emergency room or call 911.

We also advise the following:
1. Avoid unnecessary travels and trips to crowded places.
2. Frequent handwashing.
3. Avoid sharing utensils, toys, personal effects, close contact with individuals who are sick.
