Volusia County’s Environmental Management Division is hosting an International Coastal Cleanup, and residents are invited to participate.

On September 18, there will be over twenty sites along the beach, Halifax River, and Indian River, from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. participating in the event. Those interested in volunteering may register online at www.volusia.org/cleanup from August 2 to 27.

Participants are asked to bring necessary tools such as garden gloves and buckets and should wear proper attire. Participants may also bring canoes, kayaks, motorboats, or paddleboards for hard-to-reach coastlines.

Residents may also help decrease marine debris by simply reducing the amount of waste and single-use products they generate daily.

The first 1,500 preregistered participants will receive a token of appreciation after the event.

For more information, contact Sami McCorkle at smccorkle@volusia.org or (386)238-4716.
