The 27th Avenue beach ramp in New Smyrna Beach will receive an upgrade. The existing structure has exceeded its life expectancy, and beach erosion at the eastern end of the ramp has created a drop-off that makes the beach access unusable to vehicles.

Construction of the beach ramp upgrade will begin Wednesday, December 8.

During the process, the beach ramp will be closed to all vehicles for the next six months, and beachgoers can use the Crawford Road beach ramp, which will be opening on Wednesday, December 8, to accommodate the closure at 27th Avenue. The 3rd Avenue beach access ramp, north of 27th Avenue, may also be used.

The 27th Avenue Beachfront Park will stay open, and visitors can access the park from South Atlantic Avenue through 28th Avenue.
