The Florida Department of Transportation wants to optimize traffic at the Mission Drive/Wallace Road/Canal Street intersection along State Road (S.R.) 44 in New Smyrna Beach by enhancing the turning lane and turning the merge lane from Canal Street into an exclusive right-turn lane, facilitating seamless traffic flow from S.R. 44 to Wallace Street; Furthermore, the project will include a thorough assessment of additional intersection improvements to amplify overall operational efficiency and safety measures.

As part of its commitment to transparent community engagement, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has slated a public information meeting on September 13, 2023, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Brannon Center, at 105 S. Riverside Drive in New Smyrna Beach, where attendees can peruse an ongoing presentation and view project displays. The event also offers a chance to engage directly with project team members, pose queries, and submit comments.

For those seeking a convenient way to join the discussion, FDOT has introduced a virtual participation option, allowing interested parties to register to attend the virtual meeting via their computers, tablets, or mobile devices, starting at 5:30 p.m. Virtual meeting registration is accessible at https://bit.ly/3Yf4d5K.

After successful registration, participants will receive a confirmation email outlining the process of joining the online meeting. FDOT recommends using Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge as internet browsers when registering and attending virtual events. Attendees should log in ahead of time to ensure uninterrupted access to the presentation.

For anyone looking to tune in to the meeting's proceedings and contribute their thoughts over the phone, dial 1-877-309-2074 and input the passcode 910-485-094 as prompted.
