Rocco Park Pier Now Open to the Public

Well ahead of its original Summer 2024 completion date, Rocco Park Pier at 2490 Sunset Dr. in the Islesboro neighborhood is now open to the public. Featuring new ADA-accessible handrails, marine-grade timber, and protective sleeve jackets, the new pier restores local public access to Turnbull Bay since its temporary closure in 2016 due to damage caused by Hurricane Matthew. Nw Smyrna Beach commissioners approved a contract to remove and replace the pier on June 13 last year, which was followed by a months-long FAA approval process to operate cranes and other equipment as the pier lies under the final approach corridor for Runway 7 at New Smyrna Beach Municipal Airport.
