North Causeway Closure

The North Causeway in New Smyrna Beach will be closed Tuesday, April 9, from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. on Wednesday, April 10. A detour will be in place and traffic will be guided to the adjacent South Causeway.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is performing maintenance on the North Causeway (State Road (S.R.) 44) moveable bridge over Indian River, also known as the Coronado Beach Bridge. This project will remove and replace the bridge’s hydraulic cylinders and accompanying machinery. The hydraulic cylinders allow the bridge to open and close for marine vessels to pass through. Replacing the existing hydraulic cylinders will ensure continued operation of the North Causeway for all users.
