A disturbing altercation in New Smyrna Beach resulted in the arrest of a 27-year-old woman, Lindsay Corlett, for aggravated child abuse and battery after Corlett allegedly threw a steak knife at a juvenile.

According to reports, tensions escalated Wednesday night between Corlett and the teenage victim, leading to a physical altercation that brought them to the ground. Police broke up the fight, and that is when Corlett retrieved a steak knife and hurled it at the juvenile, mimicking a tomahawk throw, striking the victim in the chest.

The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment, though fortunately, the injury was deemed non-life threatening. The motive behind the argument and subsequent violent act remains undisclosed as the investigation continues.
