During a special meeting held on Wednesday, March 16, the New Smyrna Beach City Commission approved a 60-day curfew for unaccompanied youth under eighteen, east of Riverside Drive. The curfew is also in effect for groups of thirty or more located elsewhere within city limits from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Friday, Saturday, and legal holidays.

City commissioners approved the emergency ordinance to address public safety concerns related to recent large, disruptive spring break gatherings along Flagler Avenue and other beachside areas.

Any violators of the ordinance will face the following penalties: a written warning for the first violation and a $50 to $100 fine or community service applied at the hourly minimum wage rate for each incident after.
