New Smyrna Beach Police arrest caretaker for sexual battery on a disabled 90-year-old woman.

The New Smyrna Beach Police Department arrested Billy Bunn, 51, of Daytona Beach, for a committing a sexual act on a 90-year-old disabled woman in a Hospice Memory Care facility.

Bunn, a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), was sent over to the victim’s Hospice facility by VITAS, a provider of end-of-life care, to assist in the 24-hour care of the bedridden dementia patient, whose information is protected under Mary’s Law.

Another caretaker at the facility, witnessed the incident after she entered the victim’s room while she was doing her rounds just before 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 27. The witness reported that she saw Bunn performing a sexual act on the 90-year-old victim, and immediately walked out of the room. Bunn followed her out, making her nervous that he would try do something to her if he saw her try and call someone, so she played it cool until he went back into the victim's room.

The witness quickly reported Bunn to the Memory Care Facility's owner and Police before he fled from the facility in a black Nissan truck.

Upon completion of an investigation, Bunn was found at his home off Woodcrest Drive in Daytona Beach and taken into custody without incident with help from the Daytona Beach Police Department.

Bunn is charged with battery on a person sixty-five or older and lewd or lascivious offense in the presence of an elderly person. He is booked at the Volusia County Branch Jail and held on a $5,000 bond.
