The Florida League of Cities, the collective voice representing Florida's municipal governments, has made a significant announcement regarding the appointment of City of New Smyrna Beach Zone 1 Commissioner Valli Perrine to serve on the prestigious Florida League of Cities 2023-2024 Land Use and Economic Development Committee, one of the League’s five Legislative Policy Committees.

This specialized committee addresses crucial policies that impact municipal concerns, such as community redevelopment, economic development, growth management, and land use planning issues while delving into other affairs like annexation, eminent domain, tort liability, and property rights.

The appointments to the Legislative Policy Committees, including committee chairs, vice chairs, and members, were officially made by Florida League of Cities President Greg Ross, who also serves as the Mayor of Cooper City.

Founded in 1922, the Florida League of Cities is the unified voice for Florida's municipal governments. The organization's overarching mission is to champion local self-government while catering to the unique needs of Florida's cities, which are established and governed by their respective citizens. The League is deeply committed to the principle of "Local Voices Making Local Choices," which emphasizes the critical role citizens and city leaders play in enhancing Florida's communities.

Commissioner Perrine's role as a member of the Legislative Policy Committee comes with significant responsibilities, that play an integral part in shaping the League's Legislative Platform, outlining the priority issues expected to affect daily municipal governance and advocating for local decision-making during the forthcoming legislative session. Furthermore, she will collaborate with League staff to assess the real-world implications of proposed legislation.
