NSB Police Department Honors Women's History Month

The New Smyrna Beach Police Department honored its female officers in honor of Women's History Month. They posted the following on their Facebook page:

Sergeant Olsen

Sergeant Olsen is a 10-year officer at the New Smyrna Beach Police Department. Prior to becoming a sergeant, she was a patrol officer, a long-time detective, and the training coordinator for the agency. She is the first woman to complete probation on the Southeast Volusia County SWAT team! Prior to being hired as a police officer for the city, she was Active Duty in the US Navy as a Master-at-Arms. She earned her master’s degree in psychology from Southern New Hampshire University. Sgt. Olsen enjoys riding horses, working out, and spending time with her daughter, friends, and family. Her goal is to make the community safer and the job enjoyable with proactivity and comradery.

Officer Smith

A third-generation native to New Smyrna, Officer Smith graduated from New Smyrna Beach High School and played college softball for Eastern Florida State, where she also earned an associate degree. Officer Smith later received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Central Florida. Officer Smith's goal is to give back to the community where she was raised in and elevate herself through her career! In 2022, she had the most arrests in the agency! Outside of work, she enjoys being outdoors, fishing, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends.

Officer Homen

Officer Homen has been with the New Smyrna Beach Police Department for less than a year, as our newest female police officer. Officer Homen strives to bring equality and love to others by being a positive, selfless, and being an encouraging role model to the community. Officer Homen dedicates her hard work and accomplishments to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, thanking Him for the opportunity to give back to others.
