To aid Floridians facing hardship during the upcoming holiday season, the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV), in collaboration with the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), has officially launched its annual statewide initiative, the "Stuff the Charger" food drive.

Starting today and continuing through November 30, the FLHSMV and FHP are urging individuals to contribute non-perishable food items to assist those who could benefit from extra support. The primary aim is to collect donations for food banks across the state.

"Help make a difference in your community this holiday season by donating to our annual 'Stuff the Charger' food drive. We greatly appreciate your donations as they are critical in providing food to families in need," said Colonel Gary Howze II of the FHP, emphasizing the significance of community participation.

The department has established partnerships with local organizations that deliver food to vulnerable individuals and families. Their overarching goal is to sustain the success of the annual food drive, effectively impacting the lives of Florida's families during the festive period.

The drive is seeking various non-perishable items, including canned goods such as meats, vegetables, fruits, and soups; dried goods like stuffing, boxed potatoes, rice, cornbread mix, grits, cereal, and oatmeal; as well as other essentials like nuts, peanut butter, evaporated milk, bottled water, and broth.

Individuals keen on contributing to the cause can deliver donations to any local FHP Station or contact their local FHP Public Affairs Officer for further details. The FHP will be hosting events and receiving non-perishable food donations at each troop headquarters statewide, including the FLHSMV General Headquarters situated in Tallahassee. It's essential to remember that every donated item significantly aids a fellow Floridian in need.
